We have many riders who have ridden with us before on Skye and who are already converts, however since we reopened we are delighted to be able to share with you some unsolicited emails and letters which have been sent to us. I hope they are helpful.

Hi Annie,

Just thought I'd send a quick e-mail to say that I had a fabulous time yesterday - my ambition to ride on the beach is fulfilled at last. It was so exciting, I just couldn't stop smiling. I must say, it has completely changed the way in which I view heavy horses, they have such an unexpected sparkiness, especially my lovely Brutus. And I am very impressed with the way the yard is run - it was highly professional, and at the same time all the staff are really friendly. Well done! I will recommend you to anyone who's into riding! Thanks again for a great day. Hope to see you again.

I just wanted to email to say how much myself and my friend, Mary, enjoyed our days beach ride on Wednesday (20 August).  We had a fabulous day, made all the more special by your wonderful clydies and the leadership of Robin.  We'll be recommending you to all our horsey friends and are already saving for our next visit!

Hi Annie,

I'm not sure if you will remember us. Myself and Chris came for our ride on Thursday 7th August (one very rainy day)!! I just wanted to firstly thank you for fitting us in in such short notice! We had the best time. You were all so lovely and welcoming, we enjoyed every single moment of it and we will be back again!! I completely fell in love with Lugs and Chris is very grateful, thankful and over the moon that you got him doing rising trot!!I think you have influenced him Annie and my plan to get him horsey is definitely well on its way so thank you i owe you for that one! It fulfilled my childhood dream of riding a heavy horse (1 that i thought i would never get to do) so thank you so much! You were all so lovely and made the day even more memorable. The shire and clydesdale are the most beautiful horses i think so to give people like me the chance to ride them is fantastic! I wish you all the best in the future and i hope you continue with the fantastic jobs you're doing! Hope to see you soon.

Hi Annie,

I would just like to say thank you for giving us a lovely day and for the friendliness of Alan and Graham towards us. Debra had a wonderful time and had a great big smile on her face all the way home. We will be back for more of a ride out in the very near future and will be more than willing to offer our services to you on a voluntary basis if you need help in any way. Please bear this in mind! Once again thanks and we look forward to coming back

Hi Annie

I want to thank you once again for another fabulous ride at Cumbrian Heavy Horses. The beach ride is an absolute must and despite the rain, it was just heavenly seeing all that beach stretching far out in front of you, as the horses anticipate a long gallop! Your horses never fail to amaze me with their impeccable manners and enormous power, having Max as a partner for the day was truly wonderful. A special thankyou though must go to Alan, for being a considerate, friendly and competent ride leader. It is so refreshing to be treated as a "rider" and not just a "passenger", yet he gave confidence in bucketloads to many people in the group. Wishing you all a successful and happy summer - we will definitely be back, hopefully to share a fell ride next time. In the meantime, memories keep me smiling!

Hi Annie and the gang,

What can we say, another fantastic day had with your lovely horses and staff. This time we decided to go for a fell ride, myself on Tommy and Gra on Ollie, they were both brilliant, very sure footed on the narrow paths and comfortable (not to mention speedy) on the gallops!!! The views were spectacular and the guide (Robin) was a great lead, very knowledgeable but also good fun. We were also very fortunate with the weather. We also enjoyed the coffee (now you've got to grips with the machine) and Tims chocolate chip cookies (its worth going to the farm just for them!) were yummy. We felt we were very lucky to see your 2 new foals, Skye and Orion as well at such close range, they are gorgeous!! Thankyou so much again and can't wait to go on our 2 day ride in June.

Annie & Tim,
Thank you for a fantastic weekend!
We are feeling rather stiff today after all our riding, but we can hardly believe how good it was. Richard has sent us some pictures of the beach ride which look fabulous, and bring back all the good memories of the 2 days. I can't believe how fast we went! Clydesdales are such amazing horses and we would recommend them to anybody.
The whole weekend was well organised - especially the weather - and we thought the Accommodation was good. We were especially pleased with the massage after the first day.
You have a unique riding experience there, with the incredible, slowly unfolding views on the hill climb, then the descent through valleys and across rocky streams and onto pleasant tree lined bridleways and farmland. The beach ride was something else - a totally unforgettable experience riding along the vast sandy beach, through the waves and on to the sand dunes.
We would certainly like to ride with you again, and we will aim for the six-day ride! Thank you again,

Adrian & Stephanie

My husband and I came to ride with you on Friday 6th July, as first-timers and complete novices. From our first enquiry on the telephone, to the moment we left after our ride, everyone was so friendly and helpful. We both have very different physical abilities... I, having broken my back and now having arthritis, wasn't sure that I would be able (however eager). And my husband, a very fit military man who is used to having complete control at all times (not at all like Hamish, but I think his hand eye co-ordination came in handy!) The friendly personal approach from Tim and Laura during the ride, coupled with the clear consise instruction, was the perfect recipy for the most fantastic experience for both of us of our entire holiday (although our inner thighs are glad that we waited until the day before we went home to try riding!) What great value for money too. So we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to you both and all your team (with special praise to Emma for her patience and skill with me. And to Hamish for challenging my hubby so perfectly... he thrives on it!) Needless to say, we will be returning at our earliest opportunity, if only so I can work on my rising trot which left a lot to be desired, in spite of Emma's best efforts! Huge thanks again! And wishing your business every great success it rightfully deserves

Just a quick note to say thank you so much to both you and Tim for going so far out of your way for us on Tuesday. On a personal note, I was stunned at how fantastic the horses were. Not at all heavy footed and not flat like a thoroughbred or too bouncy like a warmblood. They really are absolutely magical under saddle with just the right combination of spark and sensibility that most owners would die to get out of their horse. I've had horses for years and never considered the Clydesdale as a riding horse, but if Tommy can convert me within 20 minutes I hope more people wake up and smell the coffee and start taking this breed very seriously. I would also love to see a Clydesdale knocking smiles off the faces of people in the dressage world - they've certainly got the muscle and power to sit back on those quarters and look spectacular! I hope everything continues to go well and I'll hopefully be back soon. Thanks again for letting us come out to Chappels Farm on Tuesday.

Hi Annie I just wanted to write and say how much my mum Jacqui, my daughter Sophie and I enjoyed our ride on Bank Holiday Monday. I fell totally in love with Lugs and would have loved to have brought him home with me. I have always wanted to ride heavy horses and our ride was a dream come true. Everyone was so helpful and kind making our ride an extremely enjoyable experience. Sophie loved Prince to bits and was so proud of herself having ridden him without a lead rein at points. Alan was wonderful with everyone but particularly Sophie - she thought he was wonderful. He was absolutely brilliant and took some wonderful photos for us. Mum loved Max and really enjoyed her ride. We are now working out when we will be back in the Lakes because we want to do it again. I just wanted to say how helpful Kirsty was. I would recommend riding with you without hesitation. The whole experience was fantastic from the moment we arrived to the moment we left and you were so helpful answering all my questions before I booked it up. Your horses are wonderful and I wish you great success in the Lakes - we will definitely be back. Thanks for a wonderful day.

The card couldn’t say what I wanted so here is a small letter of thanks which I hope will go some way to expressing my thanks for the trully wonderful day that yourself and your friends gave me. Above all I hope you wont be upset by me when I say the greatest thrill was riding Charlie, I make no apologies for saying he made my day, he never put a foot wrong, so easy to sit and ride and I fell in love with him, "Charlie is my darling", he and the rest of your Clydesdales and the Shire are a credit to you and Tim...Annie I find it impossible to explain how I really feel, the grin on my face that Sunday was nothing to how I was feeling inside. Good Luck for the future, and hope you and Tim meet all your goals, God bless and thank you,

Ronnie, July 07
